Hi, I'm Sam. Lifelong Catholic, wife, mom of two kiddos, and life professed Lay Dominican. I first learned about iconography back in 2016 when I first attended a Byzantine Catholic Parish, and although I was not a novice to paining, writing an icon always seemed daunting for me. Since May of 2022 I have had the opportunity to learn the Italo-Greek style of Iconography from Drazen Dupor, a master iconographer based in Madison, Wisconsin. The process of writing each icon allows me to enter deeper into prayer, and it is my hope that my icons will deepen the faith of those who pray with them. ​

I work with acrylic paints and have used both genuine gold leaf as well as imitation gold leaf on my projects. As a baptized Roman Catholic, I mostly write western saints. Much of my portfolio is work completed in workshops or as gifts for friends, however the list of saints I hope to write continues to grow. I enjoy experimenting with halo designs, working with both flat surfaces and relief. With each icon I work to perfect practiced techniques as well as explore new ways to express God's light shining though His saints.
